In this role, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for bridging strategic partnerships, and business development, with a focus on financial institutions and offshore AIA business units (BU).
It involves leading cross-functional teams, building strong relationships with bank partners, cross-jurisdiction internal stakeholders, and ensuring effective sales and marketing strategies
Key Responsibilities:
1. Business Development & Partnerships
- Develop, formulate, and deliver sales and distribution strategies focused on Financial Institutions and offshore AIA BU segments.
- Build and strengthen relationships with offshore AIA BU stakeholders, bank management, branch personnel, and introducers to drive top funnel leads, sales growth and profitability.
- Identify new business opportunities across distribution channels and geographical markets.
- Grow bank partners businesses, ensuring the achievement of VoNB (Value of New Business) targets within budget.
2. Strategic Initiatives & Project Management
- Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of strategic projects (including offshore AIA BU collaboration) that align with AIA IW's growth objectives.
- Define project scope, objectives and deliverables in collaboration with cross-functional teams. (e.g. AIA BU workstreams, steerco and governance forums)
- Manage project resources, budgets, risk mitigation, and performance tracking
- Monitor and evaluate project outcomes, recommending adjustments to ensure objectives are met.
- Coordinate requirements and priorities across internal, external and offshore functions for holistic project implementation.
3. Sales & Marketing Oversight
- Design and develop marketing strategies, sales training & product rollouts tailored to partner banks and offshore AIA BU HNW clients.
- Ensure proper alignment between AIA IW's product offerings, partner banks and offshore AIA BUs goals.
- Track and analyse feedback from marketing campaigns, recommending improvements for future initiatives.
4. Governance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to compliance, regulatory, and offshore conduct guidelines in business development and sales advisory activities.
- Manage risk mitigation processes and ensure team compliance with CPD training and licensing requirements.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Banking & Finance, or other related field
- Minimum 8 to 10 years in sales, partnerships, or business development in insurance or banking industry
- Demonstrated success in acquiring and managing regional strategic partnerships
- Strong capability in partnership acquisition, negotiation and relationship management skills
- In-depth knowledge of HNW and retail insurance products
- Strong business acumen with an understanding of market trends, competition and industry dynamics advantageous
- Proven strategic project management, problem-solving and execution skills
- Excellent presentation, communication and stakeholder-influencing skills including at senior management and executive levels
- CLI, ILP, IFA qualifications or equivalent (e.g. M5, M9, HI)
- Fluency in other Asian languages advantageous due to different market coverage
