Job Description

An established international organization within the commodities and energy sector is seeking an experienced Business Development Director to drive commercial growth and expand its market presence across Asia.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially astute professional with strong experience in thermal coal trading, business development, and relationship management across the energy commodities market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead business development initiatives to expand the company's thermal coal trading portfolio
  • Identify and develop new commercial opportunities with producers, traders, utilities, and industrial end-users
  • Build and manage strategic relationships with key clients and counterparties across regional markets
  • Drive market expansion, contract negotiations, and long-term commercial partnerships
  • Monitor market trends, pricing movements, and competitor activity to support business strategy
  • Work closely with trading, operations, and risk teams to ensure smooth execution of commercial transactions
  • Contribute to regional growth plans and support strategic decision-making

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in thermal coal trading, marketing, or business development within the commodities sector
  • Strong network across coal producers, power utilities, industrial buyers, or trading houses
  • Sound understanding of international coal markets, trade flows, and commercial contracts
  • Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and commercial leadership capabilities
  • Based in Singapore or open to relocation
