The Business Development Director (Construction) is responsible for driving business growth, securing new contracts, and expanding the company's presence in the construction and infrastructure sectors. This role involves building long-term client relationships, identifying tender opportunities, and leading bid strategies to achieve the company's revenue and market share objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth & Strategy
- Develop and execute business development strategies to grow the company's portfolio in building, civil engineering, and infrastructure projects.
- Identify and pursue opportunities in both private and public sector projects, including tenders, design & build contracts, and long-term frameworks.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to inform strategy.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, consultants, government agencies, and main contractors.
- Lead negotiations on high-value contracts, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
- Represent the company at industry networking events, conferences, and trade shows.
Tender & Proposal Management
- Oversee pre-qualification, bid submissions, and tender presentations.
- Work closely with estimating, commercial, and project delivery teams to prepare competitive proposals.
- Ensure tender compliance and alignment with client requirements.
Revenue & Performance
- Drive sales pipeline, ensuring consistent conversion of opportunities into awarded projects.
- Meet or exceed annual revenue, margin, and business growth targets.
- Provide accurate business forecasts and market intelligence to senior management.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and develop the business development team.
- Collaborate with project, operations, and technical teams to support delivery excellence.
- Establish KPIs and monitor progress against business development objectives.
