Our client is a well‑established and growing Singapore‑based group operating across multiple industries. As the business continues to expand, they are hiring a Business Controller to strengthen their finance leadership capability and partner closely with senior management.
Responsibilities for the Business Controller - Retail Financing:
- Act as a strategic finance partner to business unit heads, providing budgeting, forecasting, and performance insights to support commercial decision‑making
- Own and review group financial results, management reporting, and variance analysis
- Lead FP&A activities, including cash flow planning, working capital management, and cost optimisation
- Oversee full‑set accounting across multiple entities, ensuring compliance with SFRS
- Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes, including audit coordination
- Oversee statutory reporting, GST, and corporate tax matters, liaising with external auditors and tax agents
- Establish and strengthen internal controls, policies, and finance processes as the business scales
- Lead and develop a lean finance team, providing guidance and hands‑on support where required
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across reporting, systems, and finance operations
- Serve as a trusted finance advisor to senior management during a phase of significant business growth
Requirements for the Business Controller - Retail Financing:
- Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline; professional qualifications (ACCA / CA / CPA) preferred
- Approximately 7-12 years of relevant finance experience
- Minimum 2 years of audit or internal audit experience is required
- Broad exposure across financial reporting, FP&A, audit, tax, and statutory compliance
- Experience working in multi‑entity or group structures
- Background in retail and/or FMCG industries is strongly preferred, particularly in commercial finance or business partnering roles
- Strong commercial mindset with the ability to partner effectively with business leaders
- Comfortable operating in a hands‑on, fast‑moving, and pragmatic environment
- Proven leadership experience managing or mentoring junior finance team members
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with stakeholders at all levels
