Job Description

Role Summary

Our client, a global industrial manufacturing organization, is seeking an experienced procurement leader to oversee purchasing strategy and operations across multiple manufacturing sites in Asia-Pacific.

This role is responsible for driving procurement excellence, strengthening supplier capabilities, and ensuring strong commercial performance across key commodities. The successful candidate will lead procurement strategy implementation, optimize supplier networks, and support business competitiveness through cost management, operational efficiency, and sustainable sourcing practices.

The position oversees procurement activities across several manufacturing facilities in Asia and works closely with global procurement teams to support both regional and global sourcing initiatives.

Key commodity categories include metals, polymers, cast components, plastic injection, rubber, and other engineered mechanical parts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of the business unit's procurement strategy in alignment with global sourcing frameworks.
  • Deploy commodity strategies at the regional level and contribute to the development of global sourcing strategies.
  • Support supplier negotiations, selection, and contract management to ensure competitive commercial terms.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize the supplier base to establish a high-performing and reliable supplier network.
  • Identify procurement risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure supply continuity.
  • Drive procurement performance across cost, quality, delivery, and sustainability targets.
  • Monitor and implement cost improvement initiatives and value creation programs across the supplier base.
  • Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to support early supplier involvement in projects and product development.
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure consistent delivery standards across multiple manufacturing sites.
  • Coordinate procurement activities and reporting across regional purchasing teams.
  • Evaluate and enhance procurement organization structures to ensure effective resource allocation and capability development.
  • Ensure clear governance, roles, and responsibilities within procurement teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen procurement processes, systems, and performance metrics.
  • Promote best practices and share procurement success stories across the organization.
  • Ensure procurement activities adhere to internal policies, ethical standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain strong governance across sourcing processes and supplier engagements.

Requirements

  • Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field. MBA or professional certification in procurement/supply chain is an advantage.
  • Extensive experience in procurement within industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Proven experience managing commodities such as metals, polymers, mechanical components, or engineered materials.
  • Demonstrated success in supplier management, sourcing strategy, and contract negotiation.
  • Prior experience leading and developing procurement teams.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and international environments.
  • Mandarin language proficiency is mandatory in order to effectively liaise with suppliers based in China.
  • Experience supporting sustainability initiatives and supply chain reporting is an advantage.
  • Strong change management and stakeholder management capabilities.
