Job Description
The Breakfast Service Crew is responsible for delivering a smooth and pleasant breakfast experience in a self-service buffet environment. While guests are encouraged to return their own plates and cutleries, the staff ensures the dining area remains clean, organized, and welcoming. The role includes buffet set-up, maintaining cleanliness, assisting guests when needed, checking room numbers during host duties, and supporting other hotel F&B operations, including events and the self-service beer tap station. He or she will report directly to the Restaurant Manager.
Responsibilities
- Breakfast Buffet Operations
- Perform opening duties including setting up buffet stations, coffee/tea machines, beverage dispensers, and dining areas.
- Refill buffet items and beverages as needed, following food safety and hygiene standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and presentable buffet area throughout service.
- Ensure signage, cutlery, condiments, menus and tableware are properly arranged and stocked.
- Guest Service & Hosting
- Greet guests warmly and check room numbers when acting as host/hostess.
- Assist guests with the self-service concept when needed ( e.g., explaining buffet layout, helping with equipment, guiding them to the return tray station ).
- Provide attentive, friendly, and professional service always.
- Assist with special guest requests or dietary needs where possible.
- Table Clearing & Dining Area Cleanliness
- Clean and reset tables promptly, especially when guests do not return their plates and cutlery.
- Wipe down surfaces, maintain floor cleanliness, and ensure overall dining area hygiene.
- Regularly check and tidy the self-return tray station.
- Equipment & Station Management
- Set up, monitor, and clean coffee machines, beverage dispensers, and breakfast equipment.
- Assist with the self-service beer tap station ( monitoring usage, restocking cups, reporting malfunctions ).
- Ensure all equipment is handled safely and stored properly after use.
- Ensure return tray stations are always clean and organized.
- Opening & Closing Duties
- Complete daily opening and closing checklists.
- Ensure proper food storage, waste disposal, and sanitation procedures at the end of service.
- Secure equipment and ensure the buffet area is reset for the next service.
- Event Support & General F&B Assistance
- Support F&B operations outside breakfast hours when necessary.
- Assist with event set ups or arrangements when required.
- Support other F&B operations
- Oversee the self-service beer tap station when needed ( e.g., hygiene checks, troubleshooting, changing of barrels ).
- Health, Safety & Hygiene
- Follow hotel standards for food safety, sanitation, and hygiene
- Report equipment defects or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
- Maintain personal grooming and presentation according to hotel standards.
- Follow all health and safety regulations, including fire safety and food handling protocols
- Maintain awareness of allergen policies and guest safety concerns
