The Opportunity
We are representing a purpose-driven, community-rooted organisation with a growing consumer-facing business spanning donor and community engagement, a specialty café, and a direct-to-consumer ecommerce kitchen. Our client is in search for a Brand and Content Strategy Lead to support the senior management team as they grow the business at this time.
This is a genuine strategy-and-build mandate. The successful candidate will set content direction across all business units, use performance data to decide what runs and when, manage a small in-house team, and step in front of the camera when the content calls for it.
It's a rare brief for the market: strategic ownership from day one, influence across three distinct consumer touchpoints, and enough latitude to stay hands-on — suited to someone who has found most roles force a choice between strategy and execution, rather than offering both.
The Role / Scope
This is a newly defined position. The business is elevating it into a role with genuine ownership of strategy, output, and outcomes — not a brief-taker for other functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Strategy & Performance
- Own the content strategy and calendar across all business units, sequencing content around key commercial and cultural moments
- Use performance data to determine what's working and adjust strategy accordingly
- Lead content planning for major campaigns, including a fundraising push (content plan, ad creative, EDM timing)
- Brand, Copy & On-Camera Delivery
- Write and/or direct copy built to convert — this content has a direct line to donor engagement, merchandise sales, and café footfall
- Act as on-camera talent where the content calls for it, in addition to briefing and directing others
- Shape messaging for key cultural moments (e.g. Ramadan, Hari Raya) so it lands authentically with the business's core audience, rather than reading as commercial or transactional
- Multi-Brand & Stakeholder Management
- Manage content and tone consistently across three distinct business lines — community/donor-facing work, a specialty café, and an ecommerce kitchen — which don't all share the same audience or positioning
- Partner closely with the Growth Marketing Manager and Marketing Executive on campaign execution
- Collaborate effectively with a small in-house team (Video Content Producer, Graphic Designer)
- Hands-On Delivery
- Stay hands-on where needed — shooting or editing content personally using accessible tools (e.g. Canva) rather than only briefing others
Candidate Profile
- Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated understanding of the Muslim consumer market and cultural calendar (e.g. Ramadan, Hari Raya) — required because this role owns messaging and campaign timing for a business whose core commercial periods and audience centre on these moments; open to candidates of any background who can evidence this understanding
- B2C commercial experience, ideally in donor engagement, ecommerce/retail, or hospitality/community settings
- A track record of copywriting that drives measurable conversion, not only engagement
- Comfortable appearing on camera as talent, in addition to directing others
- Analytical enough to read content/campaign data and translate it into strategy decisions
- Able to manage multiple internal and external stakeholders concurrently
- Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with HubSpot
- Basic video editing capability (e.g. CapCut)
- Experience briefing or directing on-camera talent/influencers
- Background as a brand or content lead within a startup, agency, or growth-stage consumer business
Why Consider This Role
- Genuine strategic ownership from day one
- Rare breadth: influence across three distinct consumer touchpoints inside one organisation
- A hybrid of strategy and hands-on delivery
