BMS Network & Infrastructure Engineer

The BMS Network & Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting network infrastructure for Building Management Systems (BMS) and industrial automation environments.

The role focuses on BMS network architecture, system connectivity, server integration, and communication reliability, ensuring seamless operation of building systems such as HVAC, electrical, and energy management platforms.

Key Responsibilities

1. Install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure for BMS/IBMS systems, including LAN, WAN, and structured cabling environments.

2. Configure and manage network switches, routers, and industrial network devices supporting BMS systems.

3. Monitor and troubleshoot BMS network communication issues, including connectivity between servers, controllers, and field devices.

4. Configure and support BMS communication networks using protocols such as BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, and OPC UA.

5. Implement and manage VLANs, IP addressing, and subnetting to ensure proper segmentation of BMS networks.

6. Support BMS servers, SCADA servers, and workstations, including network configuration and connectivity.

7. Provide Level 2 technical support by diagnosing and resolving network and system integration issues.

8. Perform routine maintenance including firmware updates, patching, backups, and network health checks.

9. Monitor network and system performance using BMS and IT monitoring tools, responding to alarms and alerts.

10. Maintain documentation of network architecture, IP schemes, system topology, and configurations.

11. Collaborate with project teams during system integration, testing, and commissioning of BMS systems.

12. Ensure network security and cybersecurity practices are implemented for BMS environments, including secure remote access and user access control.
