Bioengineering Research Intern

Literature Review & Experimental Design

Position Overview

We are seeking a talented and motivated bioengineering intern to support one of our portfolio companies in their research team in conducting comprehensive literature reviews and developing innovative experimental bioengineering design concepts. This position offers an excellent opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a professional research environment and contribute to cutting-edge bioengineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews on bioengineering topics based on marine resources, including fermentation design, strain collection, biotechnology approach to build a product, and molecular interactions between compounds and active sites
  • Synthesize scientific literature and summarize key findings in clear, organized reports
  • Design experimental concepts based on current research trends and gaps identified in the literature
  • Assist in developing research methodology and experimental protocols
  • Support molecular docking studies and in silico analyses where applicable
  • Communicate research findings to the team through presentations and written documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate from the Bachelor of Engineering in Bioengineering program (minimum second year) 
  • Strong understanding of bioengineering principles and molecular biology concepts
  • Excellent research and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in scientific writing and literature review report
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team
  • Strong communication skills in English (written and oral)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Second Major in Future Foods or Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • Experience with molecular docking software (AutoDock, Schrödinger, etc.)
  • Knowledge of in silico simulation and computational biology methods
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and databases (PubChem, UniProt, etc.)
  • Prior research experience or internship in related fields
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or other programming languages for data analysis
