Job Summary

Join the trade operations team of a reputable international bank as a Bills Officer, where you will drive efficient processing and support of diverse trade finance transactions, ensuring compliance and accuracy in Letters of Credit, collections, and bank guarantees.

Responsibilities

  • Process Letters of Credit by advising, amending, re-advising, and transferring to support trade finance transactions
  • Manage inward and outward collections, disbursements, and negotiations to facilitate smooth trade settlements
  • Verify trade documents for accuracy and compliance to ensure adherence to regulatory and internal standards
  • Handle acceptance, payments, trust receipts, and banker guarantees to maintain transaction integrity
  • Execute trade-related loan drawdowns and discounting to support client financing needs
  • Perform journal entries and assist with month-end reporting to maintain accurate financial records
  • Conduct compliance checks on sanctioned countries, vessels, trade routes, and counterparties to mitigate risks
  • Participate in system enhancement initiatives, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and related projects, to improve operational efficiency
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure seamless trade operations
  • Work independently with meticulous attention to detail and demonstrate self-motivation to meet deadlines

Required competencies and certifications

  • Hands-on experience of 1-3 years in Trade Finance operations
  • Solid understanding of UCP600, ISBP745, and ISP98 rules governing trade finance instruments
  • Skilled in vetting trade documents to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Experience with Letters of Credit issuance processes

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) certification is an added advantage
  • Familiarity with system enhancement initiatives, including UAT and related projects
