My client company is looking for a bending operator that is responsible for operating and maintaining machines that bend or shape metal or other materials into specific forms or angles.
Job Responsibilities
1. Machine Operation:
- Set up and operate bending machines such as press brakes, tube benders, or CNC bending machines.
- Adjust machine settings like speed, pressure, and angle to meet the specifications for the required bend.
- Ensure that the correct dies or tools are used for the job.
2. Material Handling:
- Select and load materials (typically metal sheets, rods, or tubes) into the machine.
- Measure and cut the materials to the correct size before bending.
- Inspect the material for defects before starting the bending process.
3. Quality Control:
- Check and verify the bend angle and dimensions of the material after each bend to ensure they meet engineering specifications.
- Use measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, or gauges to ensure accuracy.
- Perform visual checks for surface defects or imperfections.
4. Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine maintenance on the bending machines to ensure they are operating efficiently.
- Troubleshoot and address machine malfunctions or inaccuracies during the bending process.
- Keep the work area clean and organized, ensuring the machines are in good working order.
5. Blueprint and Technical Drawing Interpretation:
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, or work orders to understand the specifications for the bend.
- Follow specific instructions on angles, radius, and types of bends required.
6. Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety procedures to prevent accidents or injuries while operating bending machines.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, safety goggles, and ear protection.
- Ensure that all operations comply with safety regulations and industry standards.
