Job Description

Volt14 offers scalable, drop-in technology solutions to bring cutting edge lithium ion battery performance to mass-market applications. As our technologies are taken to market, we are looking for a capable Battery Cell Development Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop battery cells in various configurations and cathode chemistries, utilizing Volt14's proprietary anode technology. Ensure that the cell design meets Volt14's required performance targets and adheres to cell assembly processes and safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with the electrochemistry and materials science team to translate developed cell technologies from smaller formats like coin/pouch cells to commercial larger-format cell stacks
  • Assist the management team in defining specifications for production equipment. Manage relationships with vendors for the procurement of equipment necessary for different scales of production.
  • Liase with technical collaborators and external parties to ensure the successful production of cells using Volt14's technology platform. Oversee the commissioning of electrode/cell production capacities.
  • Prepare technical documentation for internal record keeping and for external presentation as needed.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of hands-on experience in battery cell product development/production within a cell manufacturing environment. Experience transitioning new cell products from prototype to pilot scale production and further is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge in setting up battery cell production equipment and lines, including specification definition, vendor management, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) is advantageous.
  • An undergraduate degree with at least 3 years of relevant work experience, or a master's degree in chemical, mechanical, or process engineering.
  • Must be highly comfortable working in a startup environment with accelerated project timelines.
  • Proficiency in Google and Microsoft productivity suites.
  • Spoken and written proficiency in Mandarin is considered a plus.
