We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Barista to join our cafe team. In this role, you will work closely with our Head Barista and Operations Manager to ensure the smooth running of daily cafe operations. You will be crafting quality beverages, delivering excellent customer experiences, and contributing to a well-organised and welcoming environment. This is a hands-on, operational role focused on daily execution rather than management responsibilities.
. Prepare and serve a full range of coffee and non-coffee beverages consistently to cafe standards.
. Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment.
. Follow established recipes and presentation standards for all menu items.
. Ensure all drinks are served promptly and at the correct temperature and quality.
. Greet and attend to customers in a warm, professional, and timely manner.
. Take orders accurately and provide menu recommendations when requested.
. Handle customer feedback and queries courteously, escalating issues to the Head Barista or Operations Manager where necessary.
. Maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere at the counter and throughout the cafe.
. Process customer orders and payments accurately using the cafe's POS system.
. Handle cashless transactions with care and accuracy.
. Issue receipts and manage basic cash float procedures as directed.
. Report any POS discrepancies to the Head Barista or Operations Manager promptly.
. Assist with opening procedures including setting up the counter, equipment checks, and preparing ingredients and condiments.
. Assist with closing procedures including cleaning down equipment, restocking supplies, and securing the premises as per standard operating procedures.
. Ensure all tasks are completed thoroughly and within designated timeframes.
. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the bar area, equipment, and surrounding workspace at all times.
. Conduct regular cleaning of espresso machines, grinders, and milk steamers in accordance with cafe standards.
. Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
. Notify the Head Barista of any equipment issues or maintenance requirements.
. Provide general operational support to the Head Barista and Operations Manager as required.
. Monitor and replenish stock levels at the bar during service, communicating shortfalls to the relevant person-in-charge.
. Contribute to a positive team environment and assist colleagues during peak periods.
. Proven experience as a Barista in a similar food and beverage role.
. Proficiency in espresso-based beverage preparation.
. Familiarity with POS systems and basic cash-handling procedures.
. Strong customer service orientation with a friendly and professional demeanour.
. Ability to work efficiently while maintaining quality and composure.
. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
. Punctual, reliable, and self-motivated.
. Barista certification or formal coffee training (e.g. SCAA, SCA, or equivalent) is a plus.
. Experience working in a specialty coffee or café environment.
. Knowledge of basic food hygiene practices and WSQ Food Hygiene certification.
. Salary of up to S$2,500 per month, commensurate with experience.
. Monday to Friday work schedule.
. All gazetted Public Holidays off.
