Role Overview
As an OBA Badminton Coach, you will deliver engaging and structured lessons for studentsacross age groups and skill levels. You will focus on skill development, safety, enjoyment,and measurable progression, while upholding OBA's coaching standards and serviceculture.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching and Class Delivery
. Conduct group and/or private badminton lessons for children and adults (beginner to advanced).
. Teach fundamentals: grip, footwork, strokes, movement patterns, tactics, and game understanding.
. Plan and run structured sessions aligned to OBA curriculum and progression framework.. Differentiate coaching to suit mixed abilities while keeping sessions fun and effective.
. Maintain safety, discipline, and a positive learning environment throughout the session.
Student Development and Progress Tracking
. Track student progress using OBA's Progress Card / assessment framework.
. Provide constructive feedback to students and parents (where applicable).
. Identify students with potential for higher-level training and recommend suitable pathways.
Professional Standards and Academy Support
. Be punctual, well-presented, and professional in communication and conduct.
. Set up and pack down equipment maintain a tidy and organised court environment.
. Support academy events (e.g., internal tournaments, camps, school programmes) when rostered.
. Coordinate with the operations team on attendance, class changes, and studentmatters.
Requirements
. Strong badminton fundamentals and ability to demonstrate techniques clearly.. Comfortable coaching kids and/or adults (depending on assignment).
. Positive, patient, and confident communicator.
. Reliable and responsible with consistent attendance and punctuality.
. Willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred (Good to Have)
. Coaching experience in academies, schools, or clubs.
. Relevant coaching certification (e.g., NAC / SBTA / equivalent).. Experience coaching competitive players.
. First Aid / CPR certification.
