AVP/VP, Advanced Technology, GTO

Responsibilities:

• Guide the team to carry out short-term and long-term scanning of Advanced Technologies to understand their application for Dual-Use in Commercial and Defence. Example areas of advanced technologies include AI / Generative AI and Quantum Technology
• Perform strategic planning of R&D effort that leads to business impact, working closely with business units to demonstrate the potential of these technologies and to integrate both technology and use cases into their business strategy and product roadmaps.
• Work with a global R&D ecosystem including Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs), Research Institutes (RIs), relevant governmental agencies and start-ups to develop strategic capabilities leading to innovative solutions (products and services) that meet business objectives.
• Perform active technology scanning and sharing of latest technology development with the CTO Community at ST Engineering.
• Influence development of solutions leveraging advanced technologies across both Defence and Commercial business units to achieve strategic goals and/or to deliver business results.
• Work closely with ST Engineering's Technology Offices & R&D community in recommending capital investments designed to help its defence and commercial business objectives.
• Communicate with senior executive leadership (internally or client) regarding advanced technology trends and roadmaps, application to business and/or any other matters of importance to the organisation as part of the Group Technology Office.

Reporting Relationship:

• This position reports to Group Chief Technology and Digital Officer

Requirements:

• Significant experience in a similar role, likely working for a strategy, management, or technology consultancy previously and/or tech start-up in the last few years.
• Advanced degree, preferably PhD or Masters in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering or any related discipline with 10 - 15 years of working experience.
• Ability to frame strategic challenges from a digital/tech perspective and build convincing user stories and relevant business cases.
• Experience in advanced technology research, strategy development and road-mapping will be advantageous.
• Ability to pick up new technologies quickly & accurately assess potential partners viability.
• Very strong communication and presentation skills.
