Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team responsible for AML/KYC reviews of Retail Banking Individual customers, ensuring reviews are completed accurately, consistently, and within established timelines.
  • Review team members work and provide guidance to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Deliver training, coaching, and knowledge-sharing sessions to strengthen team capabilities and promote consistent application of AML/KYC, and SOW standards.
  • Partner with Business, Compliance, and other stakeholders on AML/CFT, KYC, and SOW-related matters, ensuring timely resolution of queries and information requests.
  • Prepare management and operational reports, support regulatory and audit engagements, and contribute to process improvement initiatives and ad hoc projects.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AML/CFT regulations, industry best practices, and internal policies.
  • Oversee the team's execution of periodic and ad hoc AML reviews, including Source of Wealth (SOW) assessments.

Team's Activities Include

  • Review and assess customer profiles, transaction activities, and supporting documentation to identify potential AML/CFT, sanctions, reputational, and financial crime risks.
  • Conduct and oversee research using internal and external sources to verify customers source of wealth and support risk assessments.
  • Identify and escalate suspicious activities, material discrepancies, and other risk indicators to relevant stakeholders for further review and action.
  • Recommend appropriate account relationship outcomes, including continuation, referral, exclusion, or closure, based on risk assessment findings.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Degree holder in any discipline, preferably in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Law, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant AML/KYC experience within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of AML/CFT regulations, sanctions requirements, customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, and Source of Wealth assessments.
  • Proven experience in conducting and reviewing AML investigations, KYC reviews, and customer risk assessments.
  • Experience leading a team, with the ability to drive performance and maintain high quality standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • ACAMS certification or other relevant AML-related professional qualifications will be an advantage.
