Job Description
- Develop and execute a comprehensive warehouse automation strategy aligned with overall Supply Chain goals, taking into account the distinct needs of ambient and coldstorage operations.
- Assess warehouse requirements and identify, evaluate, and select automation technologies-including robotics, AGVs, multishuttle systems, and sortation solutions-that drive operational efficiency while staying within the approved budget.
- Lead end-to-end implementation of automation projects across multiple warehouse sites, ensuring smooth system integration, minimal operational disruption, and adherence to project timelines and budget targets.
- Proactively identify risks tied to automation deployment and establish mitigation strategies to ensure operational continuity.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams-Operations, Technology, Finance, Industrial Engineering, and Procurement-to gather requirements and ensure automation solutions support business objectives.
- Ensure all automation initiatives comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols, maintaining a safe and compliant workplace.
- Define and monitor KPIs and performance metrics for automated systems, driving continuous process optimization, cost-effectiveness, and accuracy improvements.
- Develop and deliver training programs to equip warehouse staff with the skills needed to effectively adopt and operate new automation technologies.
- Stay informed about emerging trends and innovations in warehouse automation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and identifying opportunities for future enhancements.
The Successful Applicant
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in warehouse automation, including robotics, AS/RS, conveyor systems,WMS platforms, andIoT-enabled technologies.
- Proven experience implementing, enhancing, or supporting automation solutions in warehouse or distribution environments.
- Strong knowledge of automation technologies and material-handling systems, with awareness of new and emerging industry innovations.
- Capability to interpret operational data, identify inefficiencies, resolve system issues, and recommend evidence-based improvements.
- Strategic outlook with the ability to align automation programs with broader organisational goals and anticipate future operational needs.
- Solid financial understanding, including budgeting, cost assessments, and ROI analysis for automation-related investments.
- Familiarity with industry regulations, safety requirements, and compliance standards governing automated warehouse operations.
- Experience in vendor evaluation, contract negotiation, and ongoing vendor relationship management for automation solutions.
- Knowledge of change management and training practices to guide warehouse teams through the adoption and effective use of new automation technologies.
