Job Responsibilities:
Automation System Design & Implementation
- Design, develop and implement automation solutions for manufacturing processes to improve productivity, quality and cost-efficiency
- Integrate automation systems with injection moulding machines, assembly machines, conveyors, vision systems and testing equipment
Injection Moulding & Assembly Automation Support (Added Advantage)
- Support automation integration for injection moulding machines, including robot take-out, insert loading, degating and post-moulding operations
- Develop and optimize automation solutions for assembly machines such as part feeding, pick-and-place, screw fastening, press-fit and functional testing
- Work closely with Process Engineers to improve cycle time, reduce manpower and minimize rejects.
Programming & Control Systems
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robots (e.g., Fanuc, Yaskawa, ABB, Epson) and motion control systems
- Develop and modify automation logic, sequences, interlocks, and safety circuits
- Ensure proper communication between machines using industrial protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.)
Troubleshooting & Maintenance
- Diagnose and resolve automation system faults, breakdowns and performance issues with minimal downtime
- Provide on-site technical support during production, mould trials and new product launches
- Conduct preventive maintenance and improvement activities on automation and equipment
Machine & Process Improvement
- Analyze existing production processes and identify opportunities for automation, cycle time reduction and efficiency improvement
- Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance machine reliability, OEE and process stability
- Support poka-yoke (error proofing) and vision inspection implementation
Safety, Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure automation systems comply with machine safety standards and company EHS requirements
- Prepare and maintain automation documentation such as electrical drawings, PLC programs, SOPs and risk assessments.
- Support IQ, QQ and PQ activities related to automated equipment where applicable.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality and Maintenance teams to ensure smooth automation deployment
- Coordinate with machine suppliers, system integrators and vendors for installation, debugging and upgrades
- Provide training to technicians and operators on automation system operation and basic troubleshooting
Project Management & Support
- Manage timelines, technical deliverables and project documentation
- Assist in cost estimation, RFQ evaluation and automation feasibility studies
Job Requirements:
- A Bachelor's Degree or Polytechnic Diploma in Mechatronic, Automation Process Control, Electrical, Electronic Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 1-3 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation within medical device and/or precision plastic manufacturing environments
- Strong working experience with injection moulding machines automation, including robot take-out, insert loading, degating and post-moulding processes
- Proven experience in automation of assembly machines, such as part feeding, pick and place, press-fit, screw fastening, welding and functional testing
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and root cause analysis skills with ability to support production independently
- Proficient in MS Office and other relevant software
