The AGV Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the deployment, operation, and maintenance of Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) systems within healthcare environments. This role works closely with project teams, contractors, and client stakeholders to ensure reliable system performance, safe operations, and seamless integration with hospital facilities.
The engineer supports project execution from installation and commissioning through to post-handover operations, including system monitoring, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and user training. A strong focus is placed on safety compliance, operational continuity, and effective collaboration with hospital operations and facilities management teams.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing project schedules, progress reports, and documentation such as layout drawings, schematic, traffic flow maps and relevant drawings.
- Participate in project meetings to communicate progress and identify risks.
- Monitor contractors and installation teams under supervision to ensure compliance with standards and support commissioning activities.
- Conduct training to the Product Operators and Service Team for the newly setup system, equipping them with product operations and basic troubleshooting knowledge.
- Work closely with client operation staff and facility management teams to ensure seamless AGV operations
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of AGVs.
- Technical Support & Repairs: Diagnose and resolve AGV hardware, software, and network-related issues after completion of installation, testing & commissioning.
- Adhere to client workplace regulations and safety protocols while working in sensitive environments
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Computer Engineering or other related fields
- Relevant work experience of at least 3 years AGV operation within a hospital environment, specifically for food and laundry movement.
- Familiarity in mechanical/electrical hardware installation, setup and troubleshooting
- Good knowledge and experience in PLC programming, robotics, and control systems is added advantage.
- Strong working knowledge and understanding of electrical, mechanical, and automation systems used in AGV technology.
- Proficiency in using computers and basic applications such as MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and MS Project.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision in regulated healthcare environments
- Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills when engaging with internal teams and end users
