Job Description

[What the role is]

You will be part of the Data and Research team at NAC, which leads the growth of Singapore's arts and culture research and data ecosystem. The team commissions research, builds strong data practices, and uses data analytics to shape national arts and culture policies and programmes. It also strengthens research capabilities across the sector by connecting Government, academia, cultural institutions, and arts practitioners.

In this role, you will contribute to key research projects that support evidence-based policy planning and strategic decision-making in the arts and cultural sector.

[What you will be working on]

Research and Analyses

  • Conduct research and analysis to generate insights that support evidence-based decision-making and policy formulation

  • Gather and synthesize research and data from multiple sources, including international, to identify trends and support forecasting

  • Generate visualization of analyses

Data Management

  • Review and clean datasets to ensure accuracy, consistency and proper formatting

  • Follow up with relevant stakeholders to verify and correct data as needed

  • Merge multiple datasets into a single master data file and perform validation checks to identify and resolve errors

  • Document cleaned datasets for future reference and use

Project Management

  • Manage NAC's research studies and surveys end-to-end, including working with academics, external consultants and research firms

Administrative Support

  • Handle procurement and payment processes, including obtaining necessary approvals and preparing documentation

  • Provide operational support to Data and Research team

  • Support cross-departmental initiatives as required

[What we are looking for]

  • An interest in arts and culture and its role in Singapore's social and economic development

  • 1 - 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in market/consumer/policy research

  • Hands-on experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods, policy analysis or statistical analysis

  • Adept at working with numbers and proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau) would be an advantage

  • Strong analytical, writing and communication skills

  • Ability to think critically and understand how global and macro-level trends may affect Singapore's arts and culture sector

  • Able to engage and work effectively with stakeholders at different levels

  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
