Job Description

We are seeking a capable, experienced and service-oriented Assistant Director of Nursing to support the Director of Nursing in leading nursing operations, strengthening clinical governance, ensuring safe and person-centred resident care, developing nursing staff, and maintaining compliance within a nursing home setting. You will work closely with nursing leaders, multidisciplinary teams, residents, families, regulators and external healthcare partners to uphold high standards of clinical care, resident safety, professionalism and continuous improvement in Nursing Home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Director of Nursing in leading and managing the Nursing Department, including daily nursing operations, manpower deployment, workflow coordination and implementation of nursing policies, procedures and care standards.
  • Provide guidance, supervision and support to nursing leaders and care staff to ensure safe, consistent, compassionate and person-centred care for residents.
  • Monitor the quality and standard of nursing care through clinical rounds, audits, observations, documentation reviews, feedback and follow-up actions.
  • Ensure residents nursing assessments, care plans and clinical interventions are regularly reviewed, individualised and responsive to their physical, psychological, social, emotional and functional needs.
  • Support clinical governance, risk management, incident reporting, investigation, corrective actions and quality-improvement initiatives relating to resident care and safety.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory, licensing, professional, organisational, infection control, documentation and confidentiality requirements.
  • Support preparation for MOH, AIC and other regulatory inspections, audits, assessments and licensing reviews, including follow-up on findings and required rectification actions.
  • Work with Human Resources and nursing leaders on nursing recruitment, onboarding, training, competency assessment, staff development, performance management and succession planning.
  • Collaborate with medical, allied health, pharmacy, social work, operations, HR, finance and other departments to coordinate resident care, resolve operational issues and strengthen multidisciplinary teamwork.
  • Engage residents and families professionally on care-related matters, feedback, concerns and service recovery, escalating significant issues where required.
  • Support infection prevention and control, emergency preparedness, outbreak management, resident-safety initiatives and other nursing-related operational contingencies.
  • Maintain accurate nursing records, reports, registers, audit documentation, training records, incident follow-up records and other relevant clinical or operational documentation.
  • Assist with monitoring nursing resources, equipment, supplies, overtime, manpower gaps and budget-related matters to ensure responsible and effective use of resources.
  • Deputise for the Director of Nursing on nursing operational or clinical matters when formally assigned, and support management, committee or Board updates where required.
  • Support Home-wide projects, resident-care initiatives, stakeholder visits, quality improvement work and other duties as assigned.
