Job Summary

The Assistant Contracts Manager (CM) will lead and manage a team of Quantity Surveyors in procurement and contract management. This role includes reviewing contract documents, providing cost estimates on tenders, preparing and monitoring project budgets and cash flows, tracking design and construction changes, and overseeing contract progress claims and subcontract payments including variation claims.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct a team of Quantity Surveyors to ensure effective contract administration and procurement management
  • Review and analyze contract documents to deliver precise cost estimates for tender submissions
  • Prepare and continuously monitor project cost budgets and cash flows to maintain financial accuracy and compliance
  • Track and evaluate changes in design and construction work to update budget projections proactively
  • Oversee the processing and management of main contract progress claims and subcontract payment workflows
  • Evaluate and process variation claims with thorough documentation and justification to support contract adjustments
  • Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve contract and cost-related issues efficiently
  • Demonstrate effective leadership by fostering team collaboration and performance in contract management activities

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in contract management or quantity surveying
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes and contract law
  • Proficiency in cost estimation and budget management
