Job Summary

The Hire supports the maintenance and improvement of the financial crime compliance function for Mizuho Securities (Singapore) Pte. Ltd and local affiliates and provides advice/collaborate with the business and relevant support functions in the development of controls, processes and procedures to ensure AML/CFT risks are effectively identified and mitigated. The role will also support the effective monitoring of clients and transactions, for timely identification and reporting of AML/CFT related irregularities and suspicions to management and regulators.

The Hire will also provide support to the financial crime prevention function for Mizuho Securities affiliates in Asia Pacific.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Financial Crime team for Mizuho Securities (Singapore) Pte. Ltd and local affiliates, as well as to the APAC Financial Crime team.
  • Assist in the conduct of the Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment on Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing.
  • Assist in the monitoring of the daily and ensure that adequate financial crime prevention measures are adopted in accordance with all regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Advises management, businesses, operations and support teams on AML/CFT requirements, so as to facilitate client on-boarding, business initiatives and negotiations.
  • Reviews KYC measures conducted by the client services team and conducts periodic reviews on the KYC documentations that are maintained to ensure that all applicable regulatory and internal requirements are adhered with.
  • Assists with ad-hoc checks, risk reviews, remediation and screenings of clients, vendors, counterparties as and when needed.
  • Provides advice/collaborate with the business and relevant support functions in the development of AML/CFT controls, processes and procedures to ensure risks are effectively identified and mitigated.
  • Assist to prepare materials and conduct Financial Crime related trainings for Singapore and APAC staff as may be required, and ensure all relevant staff completes the trainings.
  • Assist to conduct monitoring to ensure that all relevant businesses and employees comply with the relevant Financial Crime related policies.
  • Timely escalations to the Financial Crime team lead on all material AML/CFT issues or exceptions.
  • Assist to provide monthly Financial Crime Compliance updates to the Financial Crime team lead for onward reporting to management.
  • Assist in APAC Financial Crime projects and initiatives, as required.

Role Prerequisites

  • At least 5 years relevant work experience in Financial Crime with specific experience of covering Global Markets, Investment Banking and/or Wealth Management within a financial institution.
  • A University degree or equivalent with proven experience working in financial services.
  • Knowledge of existing and developing industry standards with respect to Financial Crime.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills ensuring collaboration with key stakeholders/ business partners, including the Front Office, Divisional and regional Compliance teams, IT, vendors, and relevant project teams.
  • Possess analytical and communication skills needed for dealing with market participants and internal stakeholders.
