Virtus Lawis a leading Singapore law firm offering commercial, corporate, dispute resolution and financial services across a wide range of sectors. Virtus Law is the successor firm to Arthur Loke LLP established in Singapore in 1981 and is part of the Stephenson Harwood (Singapore) Alliance.

We are looking for an associate to join our commercial litigation and disputes resolution team. As part of the team, you will have the opportunity to assist in a broad range of general commercial litigation disputes involving subject matters such as fraud, complex derivative products, regulatory breaches, defamation, employment and mental capacity. You will also have the opportunity to assist in non-contentious matters such as advising on commercial contracts.

This role will suit an ambitious and enthusiastic lawyer with good communication skills who would enjoy the challenge of an exciting and growing practice area.

Main responsibilities

  • Managing and assisting with investigations, commercial and disputes and criminal cases through various dispute resolution mechanisms including the Singapore Court, arbitration and mediation
  • Handling all aspects of litigation matters both independently and with supervision, including court procedure

Attributes/ skills required

  • Experience: 4 to 7 years PQE in commercial litigation, SG-qualified strongly preferred due to advocacy work involved, preferably trained with a reputable mid or large Singaporean law firm
  • Court/Advocacy experience
  • Able to work independently and have good legal drafting, presentation and analytical skills
  • Ability to acquire, consolidate and apply fundamental and up-to-date knowledge of the law
  • Attention to detail and good practical case handling skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deliver quality work under pressure and within deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills,and the ability to build good working relationships with people at all levels
  • Strong passion in disputes resolution and ability to manage files independently
