Associate Quantity Surveyor
Position Overview
The Associate Quantity Surveyor supports the QS team in providing cost management and commercial advisory services across construction projects. This role involves assisting with cost estimation, tender documentation, contract administration, and financial reporting under the guidance of senior quantity surveyors.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Management & Estimation
- Assist in preparing preliminary cost estimates and budget forecasts
- Conduct quantity take-offs from architectural and engineering drawings
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BQ) and pricing documents
- Support feasibility studies and cost planning at various design stages
- Maintain and update cost databases and benchmark information
Tender & Procurement
- Assist in preparing tender documentation and specifications
- Compile and analyse tender submissions from contractors
- Prepare tender comparison reports and recommendation summaries
- Support contractor pre-qualification assessments
- Attend tender interviews and site clarification meetings
Contract Administration
- Assist in preparing and administering construction contracts (SIA, PSSCOC, REDAS, etc.)
- Track and monitor contract variations and change orders
- Support the preparation of interim valuations and payment certificates
- Assist in assessing contractor claims and extension of time submissions
- Maintain project cost records and documentation
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly cost reports and cash flow projections
- Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets
- Assist in preparing final accounts and project close-out documentation
- Support financial forecasting and cost-to-completion analysis
General Duties
- Conduct site visits and measurements as required
- Liaise with project stakeholders including clients, architects, engineers, and contractors
- Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes
- Support business development activities including fee proposals
