The Lodge is a 210-bed healthcare facility which provides a safe, nurturing and engaging environment for persons with dementia (PWDs) so that they may thrive and live well. The Associate Psychologist (AP) plays a key role in supporting AHL's psychosocial care for residents by working closely within a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, social workers, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and engagement specialists.
The AP assists in conducting assessments, implementing evidence-based psychosocial interventions, and contributing to care planning aimed at improving residents quality of life and supporting person-centred dementia care.
The ideal candidate is a psychology graduate with intervention and research experience, a strong interest in elderly and dementia care, and the ability to thrive within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
Individualised Care Planning
- Support the development, implementation, and review of individualised Living Well Plans for residents, ensuring care planning remains person-centred and responsive to residents abilities, preferences, and evolving needs.
Behavioural and Psychological Support
- Assess and implement behavioural interventions for residents experiencing Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia, guided by psychogeriatric best practices and clinical practice guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to monitor outcomes and adjust interventions as needed.
Resident Engagement and Programme Facilitation
- Facilitate therapeutic and psychosocial to ensure residents remain meaningfully engaged in activities that promote cognitive stimulation, emotional well-being, and quality of life.
- Monitor residents participation and engagement to activities and document observations to inform care planning and support residents overall well-being.
Programme Evaluation and Evidence-Based Practice
- Support the evaluation of Lodge programmes through data collection, monitoring, and analysis using relevant assessment and outcome tools.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of care practices and programme development.
- Assist in internal and external research initiatives and contribute to the dissemination of practice insights through presentations, reports, or professional sharing platforms.
