Job Description

The Associate Project Manager (Complex Project) is responsible for supporting the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale, multifaceted projects within the organisation. Working under the guidance of a senior project manager or project director, this role focuses on coordinating cross-functional teams, managing project timelines, and ensuring that project objectives are met efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Coordination: Assist in the development of comprehensive project plans that detail scope, milestones, deliverables, and resource allocation for complex projects.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, communicate progress, and address issues or risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Timeline and Resource Management: Monitor project schedules, track deliverables, and ensure resources are allocated effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Risk and Issue Management: Proactively identify potential risks and issues, contribute to mitigation strategies, and escalate critical concerns as necessary.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation, prepare status reports, and support project meetings with agendas, minutes, and action item tracking.
  • Process Improvement: Support the implementation of best practices and process improvements to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Budget Tracking: Assist in monitoring project budgets and expenditures, ensuring alignment with financial targets and reporting any variances.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in project coordination or project management, preferably within complex or large-scale environments.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Professional certification (e.g., PMP, CAPM, PRINCE2 Foundation) is an advantage.
