Associate Lecturer - Sport Governance (HE3)

Job Description

Good governance is important to the success of organisations and businesses in the public, private and voluntary sectors. It is about the systems, structures and processes governments and other organisations adopt to inform decision-making, as well as ensure accountability, control and behaviour at senior leadership and management levels.
Good governance can provide the foundation on which organisations can make good choices, build and gain confidence in a broad range of stakeholders, and achieve great success. Poor governance, however, can lead to poor and corrupt decision-making and practices, a breakdown of trust and confidence in senior leadership and management teams, and mistrust in whole systems and sectors.
This module will introduce students to sport governance and aims to explore the theory and practice of governance within the distinct institutional and economic environment of sport in the UK and internationally. The module's objective is to give students an understanding of the role and importance of governance in sport and sport organisations: voluntary, governing bodies and commercial. Understanding good governance is important if students wish to aspire to make sport organisations better places to work, make them more effective, and improve sport for those that wish to make sport an important and positive aspect of their lives.

Job Requirement

- A PHD or Master's Degree in related discipline from a reputable university
- At least 2 years of relevant teaching experience at the tertiary level
- 5 years of relevant work experience will be an added advantage
- Familiar with various referencing styles, especially the Harvard Stirling University Referencing style
