Job Description

Role: Associate Lawyer

Location: Tokyo, Japan

We are partnering with a leading renewable energy company that is seeking an Associate Lawyer qualified in Japanese law, with experience handling legal matters in Tokyo, particularly in M&A, joint ventures and corporate work. The ideal candidate should be capable of drafting, negotiating, and managing legal documentation efficiently. You will report to the General Manager in Tokyo and the General Counsel in Singapore.

Key Responsibilities:

Support due diligence for utility-scale and commercial/ industrial projects
Negotiate asset/share acquisitions or renewable projects using standard documentation
Handle project monitoring, company secretarial work, NDAs, and client onboarding

Requirements

Qualified in Japanese or common law (with Japanese law knowledge)
Experience with multinational legal teams or international firms
Familiarity with land deals and investment schemes such as Silent/Limited Partnership
Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable in a lean, dynamic team
