Purpose Of The Position
We are seeking a seasoned communications leader to join our team as Associate Director a senior practitioner who combines sharp strategic instincts with deep sector expertise and a track record of delivering impactful programmes at the highest level.
You will serve as a trusted senior counsel to C-suite clients across B2B Technology, Finance, and Healthcare; lead multi-disciplinary teams; and play an active role in shaping the agency's growth. This role demands deep expertise in corporate communications, stakeholder engagement, and issues management paired with the commercial acumen to grow accounts and contribute meaningfully to new business.
Responsibilities
Client Counsel Relationship Management
- Serve as a primary senior advisor to C-suite and senior stakeholders across B2B Tech, Finance, and Healthcare clients
- Build and sustain trusted, long-term client relationships grounded in deep sector knowledge and proactive strategic thinking
- Provide sophisticated counsel on corporate reputation, stakeholder engagement, industry trends, regulatory shifts, and competitive positioning
- Oversee client satisfaction across a portfolio of complex, multi-stakeholder accounts, ensuring consistent delivery of high-impact results
- Manage and negotiate senior client expectations on scope, budgets, timelines, and programme outcomes
Strategic Communications Leadership
- Develop and lead integrated corporate communications strategies spanning earned media, executive profiling, thought leadership, issues management, and digital/social channels
- Apply deep understanding of the B2B Tech, Finance, and Healthcare landscape to craft narratives that resonate with institutional, regulatory, and business audiences
- Drive cross-functional collaboration across practice areas from digital to creative to public affairs to deliver cohesive, multi-channel programmes
- Lead issues and crisis communications planning for clients in sensitive or regulated sectors, advising on reputational risk mitigation
- Ensure rigorous budget management and programme delivery to client expectations
Business Acumen & Commercial Growth
- Identify and pursue organic growth opportunities within existing client accounts
- Contribute meaningfully to new business development from opportunity assessment and proposal development to in-person pitch leadership
- Provide informed POV on the competitive agency landscape, positioning the agency's capabilities and differentiation to existing and prospective clients
- Partner with senior leadership on agency strategic planning, industry positioning, and capabilities development
Content, Thought Leadership & Media Relations
- Develop and maintain senior relationships with key media, analysts, and influencers
- Conceive and lead thought leadership programmes that elevate clients beyond news cycles building sustained corporate reputations through strategic storytelling
- Guide and review editorial and content output from junior team members, ensuring quality, accuracy, and strategic alignment
- Stay ahead of emerging media, digital, and social trends relevant to corporate communicators
- Advise clients on executive communications, investor narratives, analyst briefings, and corporate milestones with a corporate-first lens
Digital & Social Strategy
- Lead the development of digital and social media strategies specifically suited to corporate B2B audiences LinkedIn, executive channels, financial media ecosystems
- Advise clients on the intersection of corporate communications and digital engagement across owned, earned, and paid channels
- Guide clients on appropriate platforms and content strategies aligned to their sector, regulatory environment, and audience profiles
- Oversee measurement frameworks to demonstrate programme effectiveness and ROI to senior client stakeholders
People Leadership & Team Development
- Provide strong, values-led leadership for direct reports and broader team members, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and growth
- Drive career development conversations, manage performance, and create meaningful stretch opportunities for junior and mid-level staff
- Lead hiring, onboarding, and resource planning to build high-performing teams capable of delivering across complex accounts
- Partner with HR on employee relations, team wellbeing, and talent retention strategies
- Model agency values and hold teams accountable to the highest standards of client service and professional conduct
- Contribute to agency culture initiatives and help position the agency as an employer of choice in the communications industry
Qualifications
- 1020 years of progressive communications experience, with a significant portion in a PR or integrated communications agency environment
- Demonstrated expertise in corporate communications across at least two of the three core sectors: B2B Technology, Financial Services, and Healthcare
- A strong track record of advising senior corporate clients on reputation management, stakeholder engagement, issues/crisis communications, and thought leadership
- Proven experience managing and growing senior-level client relationships
- At least 5 years of people management experience, leading teams of varying seniority
- Established network of senior media, analyst, and influencer relationships
- Experience leading and contributing to new business pitches and organic account growth initiatives
- Strong commercial acumen, including budget management, utilisation tracking, and profitability awareness
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil complex corporate and technical narratives for diverse audiences
- Strategic thinker with an ability to connect communications objectives to broader business and reputational goals
- Composed and decisive under pressure, particularly in issues or crisis scenarios common in regulated industries
- Collaborative and collegial leader who invests in others and builds strong internal and external relationships
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a genuine interest in growing clients, teams, and the agency
