About the Role
We are seeking an accomplished sustainability professional to lead our Climate Services practice. As Associate Director, you will work with a diverse, global client base to navigate climate-related risks and opportunities, meet emerging regulatory requirements, and implement decarbonisation strategies that enable long-term value creation. You will also play a pivotal role in growing our climate services portfolio, leading high-impact projects, and developing innovative service offerings.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Client Advisory & Delivery
- Lead high-impact, multi-country climate advisory projects covering GHG accounting (Scopes 1, 2, 3), climate risk assessments, decarbonisation strategies, transition plans, and sustainability ratings (e.g., CDP, S&P Global CSA).
- Advise clients on compliance with international climate disclosure standards and regulations, including TCFD, ISSB IFRS S2, CSRD/ESRS, and other emerging national requirements.
- Guide clients in developing and securing validation for science-based targets and net-zero commitments.
- Deliver climate scenario analysis and integrate findings into business strategies, risk management processes, and financial planning.
2. Service Development & Innovation
- Expand and evolve Climate Services portfolio to address emerging market trends, regulatory changes, and client needs.
- Establish and lead a technology-enabled climate services platform to deliver robust, data-driven solutions.
- Develop tools, methodologies, and best practices to strengthen service quality and innovation.
3. Thought Leadership & Capacity Building
- Design and deliver training programmes, workshops, and executive briefings to enhance client capabilities in climate strategy and reporting.
- Represent Company at industry forums, conferences, and media engagements to strengthen brand visibility and influence.
- Contribute to publications, thought pieces, and insights that reinforce leadership in climate advisory.
4. Business Growth & Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain trusted, long-term relationships with C-suite executives, boards, and sustainability leaders.
- Lead proposal development, pitch presentations, and contract negotiations to win high-value engagements.
- Achieve and exceed revenue and profitability targets for the Climate Services practice.
5. Project Leadership & Quality Assurance
- Oversee project planning, budgeting, and delivery to ensure outcomes meet or exceed client expectations.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
- Maintain rigorous quality control over all deliverables, ensuring technical accuracy and strategic relevance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education & Professional Background
- Masters or Bachelors degree in Sustainability, Business, Finance, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in sustainability consulting with a focus on climate services.
- Proven track record in delivering high-impact climate advisory services for multinational clients in a professional services environment.
Technical Expertise
- Advanced proficiency in GHG accounting across Scopes 1, 2, and 3, using the GHG Protocol and other recognised methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of climate disclosure frameworks and regulations, including TCFD, ISSB IFRS S1 & S2, CSRD/ESRS, and emerging national requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and submitting science-based targets for SBTi validation, including net-zero pathways and sector-specific approaches.
- Experience with climate scenario analysis, climate risk assessment, and integration of findings into strategic and financial planning.
- Familiarity with carbon markets, carbon pricing mechanisms, and due diligence on offsets and credits.
Leadership & Client Engagement
- Strong project management skills, with experience leading complex, multi-country projects across multiple time zones.
- Proven ability to engage with C-suite executives, boards, and investors on climate-related risks, opportunities, and strategies.
- Skilled at facilitating workshops, training programmes, and change management initiatives to build organisational climate competence.
- Experience developing client proposals, winning new business, and contributing to service line growth.
Digital & Analytical Skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with advanced data analysis and presentation skills.
- Experience with climate and sustainability data platforms and data visualisation tools.
- Programming, AI, or other digital skills to enhance climate data analysis and reporting are a strong advantage.
