What the day will look like
Support the leadership of the cedant-focused facultative reinsurance portfolio in Indonesia/ Philippines. Drive business development and placement execution for key cedants, lead complex fac deals, and help develop the team's technical and client capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development & Portfolio Management
- Support delivery of the cedant fac strategy for Indonesia in line with regional priorities.
- Grow profitable facultative premium across target lines (e.g., Property, Casualty, Specialty).
- Manage a portfolio of key cedant accounts, focusing on retention, hit ratios and pipeline.
- Client & Cedant Engagement
- Act as senior day‑to‑day contact for designated cedants (Heads of Reinsurance, CUOs, senior underwriters).
- Lead or co‑lead renewals, new business pitches and structuring discussions.
- Understand cedant needs and design facultative solutions that complement treaty and direct arrangements.
- Market & Placement Execution
- Drive negotiations with regional and international reinsurers for complex risks and programs.
- Oversee preparation and quality of submissions, quotes, slips, covers and wordings.
- Ensure timely, accurate and compliant placement and documentation.
- Technical Leadership & Quality
- Provide technical guidance on facultative structures, pricing considerations and wordings.
- Review and challenge technical work produced by brokers and support staff.
- Promote best practice in data quality, MI, and use of internal systems.
- People & Collaboration
- Mentor junior brokers and broking support, sharing market and technical knowledge.
- Collaborate closely with treaty, retail and specialty teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Contribute to regional projects and initiatives as required.
- Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Operate within internal authority limits, policies and procedures.
- Ensure adherence to Indonesian regulatory requirements and support audits and remedial actions.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
- Typically 7-10 years experience in reinsurance or large commercial insurance, with strong facultative exposure.
- Proven experience managing cedant relationships and leading complex facultative placements.
- Solid understanding of the Indonesian (and regional) insurance/reinsurance market and regulations.
- Strong technical skills in facultative structures and contract wordings.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and commercial skills comfortable working with data and MI.
- Degree in a relevant field professional insurance qualifications (e.g., ACII or equivalent) preferred.
