About the Role
We are seeking a highly driven and well-connected sales Leader to spearhead the growth of our Accident & Health (A&H) reinsurance portfolio across Southeast and North Asia. This is a pure new business production role focused on distributing facultative reinsurance solutions. The sales leader will focus on facultative, and eventually treaty A&H reinsurance placements through the primary Price Forbes broking business, as well as group MGA entities.
While our ideal candidate possesses an underwriting background to facilitate technical deal-structuring, the core function of this role is client acquisition, relationship management, and revenue generation. You will act as the strategic bridge between regional ceding companies (direct insurers) and the global reinsurance market, with a specific mandate to expand our Facultative A&H footprint.
Job Description
- Business Development & Origination: Proactively identify, target, and secure new A&H reinsurance clients (direct insurers, MGAs) across the Southeast and North Asia territories.
- Facultative Sales Focus: Lead the placement of Facultative A&H treaties, including Personal Accident, Travel, Expatriate Medical, crew risk, professional sports, and specialty lines. Structure solutions that cater to high-hazard limits, unusual exposures, or capacity overflow.
- Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and deepen C-suite and underwriting-level relationships with insurers in key markets (e.g., Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, rest of Southeast Asia).
- Technical Advisory: Leverage market intelligence and technical competency to advise clients on treaty structures, pricing adequacy, and wording, collaborating closely with analytics and contracts teams.
- Market Negotiation: Manage the end-to-end placement cycle—from market submission and quotation analysis to final binding—negotiating optimal terms, conditions, and pricing with reinsurance capacity providers on behalf of the client.
- Territory Strategy: Develop and execute a strategic business plan for the A&H portfolio, identifying cross-border trends in medical inflation, pandemic covers, and ancillary benefits.
- Collaboration: Work seamlessly with the Treaty division to identify cross-selling opportunities and ensure a holistic client service model. Train other staff of reinsurance underwriting and operations as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Proven Sales Track Record: Demonstrable experience in a client-facing, revenue-producing role within the reinsurance or wholesale insurance sector.
- Facultative Expertise: Direct experience placing Facultative Reinsurance is mandatory. Candidates without Facultative experience cannot be considered for this specific role.
- Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of Accident & Health class products (Personal Accident, Group Medical, Business Travel, IPMI, crew risks).
- Market Ecosystem: Existing network of active buyer relationships with direct insurers and local cedants within Southeast Asia and/or North Asia.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage complex placement roadmaps and close deals under tight timelines.
Desired (Plus):
- Underwriting Background: Previous experience in A&H underwriting with a primary insurer, MGA, or reinsurer is highly valued. The ability to think like an underwriter is a distinct advantage when structuring deals.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English is mandatory. Business-level proficiency in an Asian language is a plus.
- Technical Analysis: Familiarity with exposure rating, loss ratio analysis, and pricing models used in U/W decision-making.
Competencies & Attributes
- Self-motivated with a restless drive to win new logos and expand wallet share.
- Adept at navigating the diverse business cultures present in Southeast and North Asian markets.
- Comfortable with sales cycles and complex multi-stakeholder approvals typical of facultative placement.
- Integrity & Compliance: Unwavering commitment to broking best practices and local regulatory requirements.
