- Assess the integrity and reliability of financial statements, corporate records, and accounting systems of both current and future investments from a forensic accounting viewpoint
- Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of allegations presented in adverse equity research reports, assess the credibility and accuracy of the claims, and employ advanced investigative techniques to identify potential fraudulent conduct
- Highlight financial crime and fraud risks to investments from differences in market perception of financial statements versus the objective, underlying reality
- Focused approach in uncovering irregularities, fraud and hidden financial risks by meticulously analyzing financial data, understanding the context of transactions, and applying legal and accounting principles
- Able to provide clear, evidence-based insights that can be used in dispute resolution, regulatory compliance, and risk management
- Give opinions on the suitability of investments from an accounting point of view
- Help due diligence teams in their assessment of private market investments financial statements, accounting, and financial reporting systems
- Assess the impact of changing Accounting Standards on the financial statements of investee companies
- Play an integral part in the investment teams due diligence to execute investments by being part of a robust risk assessment process
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role
- Professional Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA)
- Forensic accounting or transaction services experience of at least 2to 4years in an accounting/law/finance setting
- Exceptional research and investigative skills with the ability to discern and analyze information beyond its face value
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Strong collaboration skills to work with 6 equities teams in 4 locations across the world
- Excellent communication and investigative report drafting capabilities to impart technically well-judged but commercial opinions to highly experienced and senior investment analysts and portfolio managers
- Pragmatism and a willingness to work to tight deadlines
- Strong critical thinking and the ability to look at all proposals with a degree of skepticism
