Overview Of Division/Department

Global Strategic Advisory Department (GSAD) focuses on fee-based and non-fee based advisory services as well as provide various investment-related information for clients, related to overseas expansion and business development. Our mission, as the in-house advisory function in Mizuho Bank, is to contribute to supporting and promoting overseas business activities for our clients from investment upstream stages and to creating new bankable opportunities for the Mizuho group, as a means of differentiation from other banks.

GSAD Singapore office provides advisory services related to overseas business development/re-organization and direct investment for Japanese (JP) and non-Japanese (NJP) companies in APAC region primarily based in Singapore, in corporation with internal APAC offices and GSAD/other department in Japan Head Quarter (HQ) as well as external partners. Thus, we aim at acquiring banking transactions and enhancing relationships with our clients among APAC

GSAD is now seeking an Assistant Vice President/Vice President level staff in Singapore office team. The selected candidate will focus on supporting and proactively developing potential projects for JP/NJP clients under the supervision of Section Head in Singapore and HQ.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities

(For Non- Japanese clients)

  • Promote business activities through advisory services for non-Japanese clients among APAC region (mainly non-fee based)
  • Mainly focus on supporting clients in East Asia (Mainland China, Taiwan, Korea) companies to expand their business into APAC region
    • For instance, recently focusing on support investment activities for Chinese companies from China into ASEAN, provision of APAC market information and thematic approaches such as Chinese OEM/auto finance etc.
    • Creating pitch books and proactively promote business activities for our clients cooperating with internal department such as Industrial Research Department/sector bankers in Asia Pacific Corporate Department in Singapore office.
    • Perform the same activities as above for Taiwanese clients interested in investing in India from Taiwan
    • Involve in other business promotion that occurs on ad hoc basis or based on new thematic approaches
(For Japanese clients)

  • With Relationship Managers (RMs), contribute to business promotion based on client's needs and provide fee based and non-fee based various solutions such as research/consulting activities for our clients based in Singapore, mainly focusing on Japanese Regional Headquarters companies.
  • Play a leading role of formulating and conducting a research/consulting project for JP clients covering APAC.
  • Jointly implement a project originated by GSAD HQ for a client which aim at expanding their business into Singapore.

(Assistant Vice President)


  • Ensure liaison between Relationship Managers (RMs) in Asia offices and GSAD HQ in Japan
  • Research business related information for APAC (principally Southeast Asia and East Asia) and provide business knowledge/ implication/ intelligence for clients and/or internal Mizuho offices and other divisions in APAC region.
  • Provide non-fee based support and fee-based advisory projects regarding market entry/ corporate strategy/ RHQ strategy/ sourcing alliance partners/ M&A origination activities based on client's needs, under the supervision of Section Head.
  • Proactively develop business alliances between JP-NJP/ NJP-NJP companies.

(Vice President)


  • Ensure liaison between Relationship Managers (RMs) in Asia offices and GSAD in Japan
  • Take an active role in knowledge management, coordinating with offices and other divisions in APAC region, including preparation of specific knowledge products, pitch books and proposals for both clients and internal case studies.
  • Lead to formulate and provide non-fee based support and/or fee-based advisory projects regarding market entry/ corporate strategy/ RHQ strategy/ sourcing alliance partners/ M&A origination activities based on client's needs.
  • Proactively develop business alliances between JP-NJP/ NJP-NJP companies.
  • Connect expertise from external partners to projects and initiatives.
  • Active team player, mentor to junior staff.

Job Requirements


  • A Bachelor's Degree and at least 4 years (AVP)/8 years (VP) of relevant work experience as business consulting or a research analyst for an area of expertise specific to a sector, subject matter, or solution speciality. Related fields of education include business, finance, or economics etc.
  • Experience in advisory works with regards to M&A origination or supporting Foreign Direct Investment for clients such as business matching activities/corporate strategy etc is preferable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PPT
  • In addition to advanced fluency in English (and/or Chinese) language will be preferred as there is extensive communication with clients in China.
  • Being able for business trip around APAC regions. (East Asia, Southeast Asia, India, Oceania and Japan)
