Job Summary
The Assistant Quantity Surveyor is responsible for supporting the commercial and contractual close-out of a completed project. The role focuses on the preparation and substantiation of outstanding claims, variation orders, final accounts, and project documentation to support commercial recovery and dispute resolution activities.
Manage Claims & Final Accounts
- Review and consolidate project records, cost data, and commercial documentation.
- Assist in the preparation, substantiation, and submission of outstanding progress claims, variation orders, and final accounts.
- Compile supporting documents, cost breakdowns, invoices, timesheets, and project records for claim submissions.
- Monitor and maintain claim registers, payment records, and commercial documentation.
- Support commercial recovery efforts and claim negotiations where required.
Support Contract Administration & Dispute Resolution
- Compile, organise, and maintain contractual, commercial, and project records to support claims management and dispute resolution processes.
- Review contract documents, correspondence, site instructions, drawings, and project records to support claim substantiation.
- Prepare claim summaries, cost analyses, and supporting schedules for management review.
- Ensure proper filing, document control, and maintenance of project commercial and contractual records.
- Support the resolution of commercial and contractual matters arising from completed projects.
Stakeholder Coordination & Project Support
- Liaise with Project Managers, Engineers, Consultants, Clients, Subcontractors, and other stakeholders on commercial and contractual matters.
- Coordinate the collection and verification of supporting documents and information required for claims and project close-out activities.
- Assist in preparing reports, commercial summaries, and documentation for management review.
- Provide administrative and coordination support for project close-out and commercial recovery activities.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant Quantity Surveying experience in the construction, engineering, M&E, ACMV, or built environment industry.
- Experience in Progress Claims, Variation Orders (VO), Final Accounts, Contract Administration, and project commercial close-out activities.
- Experience in contractual claims preparation, dispute resolution, or claim recovery will be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of construction contracts, commercial management practices, and project cost control.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Meticulous, organised, and able to work independently within tight timelines.
