Role Purpose

Sealed Air is hiring an Assistant Purchasing Manager in Singapore!

This is a hands‑on role supporting the Purchasing and Supply Chain function for SAC Singapore and Malaysia operations. The position covers end‑to‑end daily purchasing activities, including sourcing, replenishment, supplier coordination, and inventory planning, to ensure uninterrupted supply for production and customer demand.

The role is ideal for a senior purchasing executive with strong purchasing and supply chain experience, offering exposure across regional operations and the opportunity to grow into a Supply Chain Manager role over time.

What You'll Do

Purchasing & Sourcing - 70%

  • Monitor daily purchasing activities; raise purchase orders (POs), monitor PO status, and follow up on supplier deliveries.
  • Ensure timely replenishment to support production and customer demand.
  • Source for new products, suppliers, and alternative vendors when required.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead time, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Review supplier performance in terms of price, quality, and delivery.
  • Work closely with freight forwarders, logistics providers, and warehouse teams.
  • Understand and manage landed cost computation, including freight, duties, and other import-related charges.
  • Have good knowledge of Incoterms and international shipping arrangements.
  • Support cost-saving initiatives across purchasing and logistics activities.

Planning & Inventory Control - 30%

  • Support demand planning and purchasing planning activities.
  • Prepare and maintain rolling demand forecast and purchasing plans.
  • Monitor inventory levels to avoid overstock and stock shortage.
  • Review slow-moving, excess, and aging inventory and work with commercial and warehouse teams to reduce aging inventory.
  • Support inventory sharing across the region when there is excess stock.
  • Monitor and report key supply chain KPIs such as inventory level, aging stock, supplier delivery, and cost savings.
  • Support improvement of purchasing and planning SOPs and processes.
  • Assist management with risk assessment and supply chain improvement activities.

People Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistic or equivalent; Diploma also acceptable
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the role of purchasing, scheduling, forecasting and planning, have experience of handling JIT customer
  • Experience in purchasing, sourcing, replenishment, or supply chain operations.
  • Good knowledge of supplier management and purchasing processes.
  • Familiar with inventory control, planning, and forecasting.
  • Good understanding of landed cost and Incoterms.
  • Familiar with import/export process, shipping, and freight forwarding.
  • Good communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
  • Understanding of Singapore and Malaysia import/export procedures, freight forwarding, and customs requirements is an added advantage
