The Assistant Project Manager plays a pivotal role in the overall planning, coordination, and successful delivery of solar energy projects from inception to completion.
This individual involves managing engineering, procurement, construction, testing, project lifecycle, ensuring adherence to project requirements, schedule. As well as overseeing the installation of solar electrical systems and components and commissioning activities while ensuring compliance with project requirements, timelines, budgets, and regulatory standards.
The Assistant Project Manager works closely with clients, consultants, authorities, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure safe, high-quality, and timely project execution. Also, the role requires strong technical knowledge, effective project management capabilities, problem-solving skills and effective communication with stakeholders.
ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER - KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, manage, and oversee solar PV projects from initiation to completion, ensuring projects meet scope, timeline, and budget requirements.
- Supervise on-site activities, including installation of solar panels, electrical systems, and related components, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Lead, mentor, and coordinate project teams, subcontractors, and vendors to achieve project goals efficiently.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, consultants, authorities, suppliers, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review engineering designs, technical drawings, and method statements to ensure feasibility, compliance, and quality execution.
- Plan manpower, materials, and equipment, and monitor project schedules to ensure timely delivery.
- Identify potential risks, technical challenges, and project delays implement corrective actions proactively.
- Ensure all works adhere to WSH regulations, electrical codes, EMA requirements, and other statutory standards.
- Conduct site inspections, track progress, and prepare regular project reports, status updates, and documentation for management and clients.
- Monitor project expenditures, manage variations, and optimize resource allocation to deliver within budget.
- Oversee system testing, commissioning, and handover to clients, ensuring all technical and contractual requirements are fulfilled.
- Evaluate project performance, identify lessons learned, and implement process improvements for future projects.
Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Master of Business Administration or a related technical field.
- Proven experience in solar project management or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate complex issues and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent decision-making abilities, capable of making informed judgments under pressure.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide project teams to achieve common goals.
- Proficiency in engineering principles, calculations, and technical aspects of solar energy systems.
- Solid project management skills, including planning, organizing, coordinating, and prioritizing tasks efficiently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely to various stakeholders.
- Good knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing solar energy projects in Singapore.
- Familiarity with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) requirements and statutory compliance for construction and electrical works.
