As a Assistant Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading radar installation projects from planning and site survey through installation, integration, testing, commissioning, customer acceptance and handover. The role requires close coordination with customers, users, system engineers, installation engineers, site supervisors, subcontractors, vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure radar installation works are completed safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with contractual, technical, quality and safety requirements.

The candidate will oversee all key aspects of radar installation execution, including installation planning, site readiness, equipment delivery, lifting and transportation coordination, installation control documentation, risk assessment, subcontractor supervision, installation checkout, integration, testing, punch list closure and final documentation handover.

  • Lead and manage radar installation projects from project initiation, site survey and installation planning through deployment, testing, commissioning, customer acceptance and project closure.
  • Review contract requirements, technical specifications, installation scope of work, customer deliverables, project milestones, acceptance criteria and contractual obligations.
  • Plan and coordinate site survey activities to assess site readiness, equipment location, cable routes, access constraints, lifting requirements, power requirements, grounding, shelter interface, antenna installation requirements and other installation dependencies.
  • Prepare, review and maintain project schedules, installation plans, installation control documents, risk registers, action item lists, progress reports and project documentation.
  • Coordinate radar equipment delivery, logistics, lifting, transportation, storage, site access, tools, test equipment, special fixtures, consumables and manpower requirements for installation activities.
  • Manage installation activities involving radar shelters, antenna systems, radar processing systems, power distribution, cooling systems, communication interfaces, cabling, grounding and other related subsystems.
  • Work closely with system engineers, installation engineers and site supervisors to ensure installation drawings, cable routing, equipment layout, interface control and installation changes are properly reviewed, approved and controlled.
  • Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, vendors and OEM representatives to ensure site works are executed according to approved scope, schedule, installation drawings, safety requirements and quality standards.
  • Ensure risk assessments, method statements, permit-to-work requirements, toolbox meetings, lifting plans, work-at-height controls and other site safety requirements are in place before work commencement.
  • Monitor site progress, installation quality, manpower deployment, material readiness, subcontractor performance, safety compliance and project risks throughout the installation period.
  • Coordinate installation checkout, integration and testing activities, including visual inspection, electrical checks, interconnection checks, system power-up, sanity checks, calibration, site adaptation and system verification.
  • Plan and support factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests, customer installation acceptance inspections, commissioning activities and operational handover where applicable.
  • Manage installation defects, punch lists, non-conformances, technical issues and outstanding action items until closure.
  • Provide regular project updates to management, customers and stakeholders on project schedule, progress, risks, issues, cost, quality, safety and key decisions required.
  • Manage project cost, budget utilisation, procurement status, subcontractor claims, billing milestones, change requests, variation orders and contract amendments.
  • Ensure all installation records, site survey reports, safety records, acceptance test records, calibration certificates, as-built drawings, installation change records and handover documents are properly consolidated and filed.
  • Support warranty transition, maintenance handover and post-installation support to ensure smooth transfer from project delivery to operations or maintenance team.
  • Perform any other project-related duties assigned by management.

Qualities We Value

  • Knowledge in Electronics / Electrical / Mechanical / Mechatronics / Communications / Computer Engineering or other relevant engineering discipline.
  • Relevant experience in project management, system installation, site deployment, system integration, testing and commissioning of radar, communications, Defence, surveillance or other complex engineering systems.
  • Experience in radar installation works involving antenna systems, shelters, power systems, cooling systems, cabling, grounding, RF subsystems, signal processing equipment or command-and-control interfaces will be an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of project planning, installation scheduling, site coordination, subcontractor management, budgeting, risk management, contract management and stakeholder management.
  • Able to interpret technical specifications, installation drawings, interface requirements, site survey findings, acceptance criteria and contractual requirements.
  • Familiar with installation control, site survey, risk assessment, method statement, permit-to-work, safety, quality assurance, acceptance testing and handover processes.
  • Knowledge of radar system operation, RF system installation, electrical safety, mechanical installation, cable routing, equipment grounding, antenna alignment or system calibration will be an advantage.
  • Strong leadership, coordination, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage customers, users, subcontractors, vendors and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Able to work independently, manage multiple work fronts, resolve site issues and make sound decisions under tight project timelines.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear progress reports, meeting minutes, risk updates, customer correspondence and management briefings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience with Microsoft Project or other project scheduling tools will be an advantage.
  • PMP, PMI, PRINCE2, safety coordination, lifting supervision or related project/site management certification will be an added advantage.
  • Preferably possess a valid Class 3 driving license.
