Assistant Professor / Lecturer in Management (Specialising in Organisational Behaviour)

This post is a temporary 3-year contract based in Singapore. The appointee will be an employee of NUI Dublin Pte in Singapore. NUI Dublin Pte is a subsidiary of UCD.

UCD College of Business is a dynamic business school located in the vibrant European capital of Dublin. Consistently ranked amongst the leading business schools in the world, the College of Business is currently ranked 23rd in the Financial Times European Business Schools rankings. It is the only Irish member of the Global Alliance in Management Education (CEMS) and the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM), and also holds the triple crown of accreditation from AACSB (US), EQUIS (Europe) and AMBA (UK).

The College comprises of the Lochlann Quinn School of Business (Quinn School), the Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School (Smurfit School), the Global Campus (GC) and Smurfit Executive Development (SED). The Quinn School and GC are located on the main campus at Belfield while the Smurfit School and SED are located on the Blackrock campus. UCD College of Business GC has a significant overseas presence in Singapore.

We are looking for energetic academic colleagues who will contribute to the development of our educational activities in Singapore and accordingly, applications are invited for appointment to a three-year temporary position as Assistant Professor / Lecturer of Management (specialising in Organisational Behavour) (OB).

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in the area of Management (OB).

Teaching and Learning: The successful candidate will be required to make a significant contribution to the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Singapore. This post has a strong emphasis on teaching duties and it is expected that these will form the core activity of this post.

Research: The successful candidate will be required to be research active and to undertake research leading to publication in international, peer-reviewed, academic journals relevant to Management (OB).

Service: The successful candidate will be required to actively engage with the NUI Dublin team in Singapore, UCD staff, and our local partner in Singapore. In particular the focus will be on cultivating and maintaining relationships with key industry partners, student support and promotion of UCD and our portfolio of programmes in Asia.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach modules on graduate and undergraduate programmes in Singapore and elsewhere as assigned. Inter alia, this will involve module design and delivery, examination and assessment, quality assurance and enhancement, and associated administration.
• Provide students with feedback in relation to examination performance and evaluate performance in the professional and practical elements of the course.
• Attend and maintain active membership on programme committees/boards as assigned.
• Make a significant contribution to general administration as assigned.
• Undertake and publish research and scholarship in own field of expertise.
• Engage with key stakeholders in the promotion of UCD and our portfolio of programmes in Asia. Contribute to engagement with the wider educational and business community in Singapore.
• Support alumni engagement activities in Singapore.
• Provide an ambassadorial role for UCD at its Singaporean campus.
• The postholder is expected to be flexible with respect to duties and therefore undertake such other duties as directed by the College Principal / Chair of NUI Dublin or nominee in line with the contract of employment.

Candidates should have:

• A PhD in Management (Organisational Behaviour) or closely related field. Candidates who do not yet have a PhD, but who expect to shortly complete this degree, may be considered.
• A strong commitment to high quality teaching at graduate and undergraduate levels.
• A strong commitment to research and international publication in the field of Management.
• A capacity and enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary context.
• An ability to design, deliver and assess a range of modules in and outside areas of specialist research interest.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Industry engagement and relationship experience.
• Candidates must demonstrate how they can positively contribute to fostering an inclusive environment and a level of awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Ability to teach in an intercultural environment.

Also good to have:

• An established track record of teaching in areas relevant to this post at an international business school.
• An established track record of publication in international, peer-reviewed journals in the field.
• A track record of Industry collaborations encompassing either research, teaching or student experience.
• Administrative experience commensurate with managing a portfolio of teaching, research and programme support activities.
