The Assistant Production Manager supports the Plant Manager in overseeing daily operations of the lubricant blending plant, including blending and filling activities. The role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality production while optimizing manpower, equipment utilization, and process performance. This position plays a key role in coordinating blending operations, SAP transactions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Blending & Filling Operations
. Oversee daily blending and filling operations to meet production targets
. Ensure filling lines (drums, pails, IBCs, small packs) run efficiently
. Minimize product loss, contamination, and rework
. Ensure flushing, blending and filling processes adhere to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
. Coordinate with planning and warehouse teams to ensure raw materials and additives are available for production.
. Troubleshoot process deviations and escalate when required
SAP & Production Coordination
. Oversee creation and release of job orders in SAP
. Maintain accurate inventory movements (raw materials, additives, finished goods)
. Coordinate closely with planning, tank farm and warehouse teams
Manpower Management
. Supervise production supervisors, team leaders, and operators
. Plan manpower allocation across blending and filling operations
. Manage overtime planning, including extended or weekend production
. Drive discipline, accountability, and team performance
Safety, Health & Environment
. Ensure compliance with Singapore safety regulations and company policies
. Enforce proper PPE and chemical handling procedures
. Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions
Quality Control & Assurance
. Ensure blending accuracy and product meets specifications
. Investigate and resolve quality deviations or product non-conformances.
. Prevent cross-contamination and ensure proper tank flushing practices
. Actively participate in customer complaint investigations and lead or support implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Continuous Improvement
. Drive initiatives to improve Blending cycle time and filling line efficiency
. Support Lean projects to reduce waste and losses
Reporting & KPIs
. Track and report:
o Production output vs KPI
o Losses / yield variance
o Safety performance
. Analyse data and propose improvement actions
Requirements
Education & Experience
. Diploma/Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or related engineering field
. 5-8 years in lubricant, chemical, or process manufacturing
. At least 2-3 years in a supervisory role
Skills & Competencies
. Strong knowledge of blending and liquid handling systems
. Familiar with DCS/SCADA systems
. Hands-on experience with ERP/SAP production processes
. Strong problem-solving skills (RCA, CAPA)
. Leadership and team management capability
. Good communication and stakeholder management skills
. Lean / Six Sigma certification or experience is preferred
. Experience handling customer complaints or quality investigations
