The Assistant Manager, Volunteers & Programmes complements programme delivery by building and managing a strong volunteer pipeline, including recruitment, onboarding, deployment and engagement. The role works alongside the Programmes team to implement programmes end-to-end, including planning, coordination, and on-the-ground execution. The Assistant Manager also supports partnerships with internal teams and external stakeholders to create meaningful volunteer opportunities, and tracks volunteer contributions and programme support outcomes
Volunteer Strategy & Governance
- Implement volunteer management strategies aligned with organisational goals and administer volunteer engagement frameworks.
Volunteer Recruitment, Training & Experience
- Recruit volunteers across different segments (programme-based, corporate, community, youth leadership, mentoring and sector initiatives).
- Design and conduct volunteer orientation/training to prepare volunteers for deployment.
- Build a positive volunteer culture through communications, feedback and recognition.
Volunteer Deployment & Operations Support
- Match and deploy volunteers to programme needs based on suitability and requirements
- Work with programme teams to translate programme plans into clear volunteer roles, schedules and ground processes.
- Provide on-site supervision during programmes/events
Programme Implementation (with Programmes Team)
- Work alongside the Programmes team to implement programmes end-to-end, including planning, coordination, and on-the-ground execution.
Partnerships, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop volunteer opportunities and support programme outcomes.
- Track volunteer engagement/performance and analyse data to report impact and improve volunteer-supported programme delivery
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum 3 years experience in volunteer management and programme operations.
- Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills (internal teams, volunteers, corporates/partners).
- Comfortable being on the ground during programme delivery, with good planning and execution discipline.
- Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience.
