Assistant Manager, Trade (Reefer) - Shipping Carrier

Client Summary:

Our client is a leading international container carrier with a strong global footprint. Recognized for providing reliable liner services and specialized cargo solutions across major global trade lanes, they are currently expanding their commercial trade management team in Singapore.

Role Overview:

In this regional corporate role, you will drive commercial profitability for the company's specialized container segment. You will be responsible for designing tariff structures, managing yield optimization, and executing trade strategies. Working closely with global agencies and internal liner divisions, you will play a key role in maximizing revenue, balancing asset utilization, and supporting business development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Formulate, review, and implement freight rate structures and surcharges for specialized cargo, ensuring alignment with corporate profit targets and market shifting trends.
• Act as the central point of contact for regional offices and agents to manage volume forecasts, equipment availability, and space allocation.
• Analyze vessel utilization data to adjust pricing strategies dynamically, balancing space supply with market demand to maximize per-voyage profitability.
• Evaluate and streamline day-to-day booking requests from sales teams, ensuring rapid turnaround times and competitive rate offerings.
• Monitor competitor movements and global supply-demand shifts, translating data analytics into strategic recommendations for executive leadership.
• Support local agencies in managing key accounts, addressing commercial bottlenecks, and tailoring service offerings to specialized client needs.
• Participate in trade feasibility studies, evaluate new commercial corridors, and contribute to long-term business expansion plans.

Job Requirements:

• Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Maritime Studies, or a relevant Business discipline.
• More than 4 years of commercial, trade, or pricing experience within the shipping line / ocean freight sector. Prior exposure to temperature-controlled or specialized cargo is preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with proficiency in data-driven decision-making.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with overseas agents and internal headquarters.
• A strategic thinker with strong negotiation skills and the ability to work under tight timelines in a fast-paced environment.
