The Singapore Eye Research Institute is Singapore's national research institute for ophthalmic and vision research. About TD&C
The Technology Development & Commercialization (TD&C) department drives the development and commercialization of SERI's technologies, fosters strategic collaborations with industry, and promotes partnerships with new stakeholders. The TD&C office serves as a one-stop support entity for technology development, technology transfer, and industry engagement.
Role Overview
The Assistant Manager will support the day‑to‑day operations and coordination of a confidential, multi‑project programme involving both public and industry stakeholders.
This role requires someone with prior industry exposure who understands industry timelines, decision‑making, and performance expectations, and who is comfortable operating at pace while meeting public‑sector governance and reporting requirements.
The role is primarily programme operations and coordination focused, with close engagement across internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Operations & Coordination
- Support operational execution of a multi‑project programme with multiple workstreams running in parallel.
- Track programme and project milestones, deliverables, timelines, and risks.
- Maintain programme trackers, dashboards, and documentation to support oversight and reporting.
- Coordinate inputs and follow‑ups across project teams to ensure timely delivery.
Governance, Reporting & Compliance
- Support programme governance structures, including reviews, progress updates, and reporting cycles.
- Assist in the preparation of progress reports, summaries, and materials for internal management and funders.
- Ensure programme activities align with agreed funding conditions, reporting requirements, and internal policies.
Stakeholder & Industry‑Facing Coordination
- Act as a coordination point between SERI, project teams, and external stakeholders on operational matters.
- Support alignment between government funding requirements and industry expectations.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with stakeholders in a fast‑moving programme environment.
Meeting & Secretariat Support
- Organise and support programme meetings, technical reviews, and workshops.
- Prepare agendas, circulate materials, take minutes, and track action items.
- Support logistics for programme‑related briefings, site visits, and presentations.
Financial & Administrative Support
- Assist with budget tracking, expenditure monitoring, and claims processes in collaboration with finance teams.
- Support procurement and administrative workflows required for programme activities.
- Maintain awareness of relevant institutional policies and funding guidelines.
Education & Experience
- Degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical, Business, or related field.
- 4–6 years of experience in programme management, project coordination, operations, or related roles.
- Prior experience in industry (e.g. pharma, biotech, medtech, healthcare, or related sectors) is strongly preferred, particularly in roles involving cross‑functional coordination or external stakeholders.
- Experience working with publicly funded programmes, research environments, or regulated settings is an advantage.
