Assistant Manager, Quality Assurance – Precision Manufacturing

About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Assistant Manager, Quality Assurance to lead our quality team in a precision manufacturing environment.
This is an important role in our SME environment where you will work closely with Engineering, Production and Management to maintain product quality, solve quality issues and continuously improve our processes.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable being both a quality leader and a problem solver. You should be able to work on the factory floor, understand the details, but also step back and manage the bigger picture.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Quality Engineers and Quality Inspectors.
- Oversee day-to-day quality activities, inspection and quality performance.
- Drive NPI quality, production readiness and quality requirements for new products.
- Lead investigation and resolution of customer complaints, NCRs and product quality issues, including RCA, 8D and CAPA.
- Maintain and improve our ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and ISO 14001 management systems.
- Work with Engineering and Production to identify root causes and implement practical corrective actions.
- Review and improve PFMEA, Control Plans, inspection standards and quality documentation.
- Monitor quality KPIs and drive continuous improvement across the manufacturing operation.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of findings.
- Coach and develop the quality team and build a culture of ownership and accountability.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Precision Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in precision engineering or manufacturing quality.
- Experience in plastic injection moulding, tooling or precision components is highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with ISO 9001 and preferably ISO 13485 / ISO 14001.
- Experience in NPI, customer complaints, RCA / 8D and CAPA.
- Good understanding of PFMEA, Control Plans and GR&R.
- Experience managing or leading Quality Engineers and Inspectors.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Most importantly, you are hands-on, practical and comfortable working in an SME manufacturing environment.
