The Role
We are seeking a high-caliber Assistant Operations Manager to provide leadership and direction for our Receiving and Inventory departments. In this role, you will be the engine room of our distribution center, ensuring day-to-day operations are executed with precision, compliance, and efficiency.
You will report to the Operations Manager and play a pivotal role in optimizing warehouse layouts, maintaining 100% inventory integrity, and developing a high-performing operations team.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Execution: Lead the day-to-day activities of the Receiving department. Ensure strict supplier compliance and monitor the quality of all incoming stock.
- Inventory Control: Oversee all stock count activities. Optimize inventory procedures to ensure physical and system balances tally at all times.
- Capacity Planning: Work closely with IS teams and planners to manage incoming volumes, scheduling un-stuffing and truck-outs to maximize dock turnaround.
- Process Improvement: Plan and implement improvements to pick location layouts to enhance overall picking efficiency and effectiveness.
- Financial & Resource Management: Manage department costs, contribute to yearly budget formulation, and ensure all ad-hoc services/charges are billed accurately.
- Team Leadership: Interview, hire, and coach staff. Conduct annual performance reviews and ensure all team members are trained in SOPs and Safety requirements.
- Vendor Management: Responsible for managing labeling contractors, ensuring they meet strict KPIs regarding timeline and accuracy.
Critical Accountabilities
- Quality Standards: Ensure zero delivery of expired or near-expired stocks to outlets.
- Accuracy: Maintain Right-First-Time receiving to eliminate obsolete stock resulting from receiving errors.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure zero safety incidents and full compliance with SOPs and good housekeeping standards.
- Efficiency: Minimize damage write-offs by working cross-functionally to improve handling processes.
Job Requirements
Educational Qualifications:
- Minimum Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a Business-related field. A Degree is preferred.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Proven experience in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
- Strong supervisory background with a hands-on approach to operations.
- Experience in leading and developing top-performing teams.
