We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic individual to join their team as a Assistant/Manager, Network & Trade. This role is crucial in optimizing service offerings, expanding market reach, and fostering strong alliances to achieve business objectives.
About the Role
As an Assistant/Manager, Network & Trade Strategy, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the global shipping network. You will be responsible for the end-to-end process of new service development, from initial market study and profitability analysis to alliance formation, agreement finalization, and successful service launch. You will also be instrumental in managing existing partnerships and optimizing service efficiency through strategic adjustments. This is a dynamic role that requires a blend of analytical prowess, negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of the container shipping industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct market research, analyze feasibility, and assess profitability for new service offerings or expansions.
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for new shipping services or enhancements to existing routes.
- Lead efforts to identify and engage with potential alliance partners.
- Negotiate and secure favourable terms for new joint services, including vessel sharing agreements, network rotations, capacity declarations, and operational parameters.
- Plan and coordinate the operational implementation of new services, working with internal departments and external partners to ensure a smooth and timely launch.
- Continuously monitor and analyze network performance, identifying areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with partners on strategic adjustments like blank sailings or schedule modifications to enhance operational efficiency and profitability.
- Stay abreast of global maritime industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities, providing timely updates and strategic insights to internal stakeholders.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in network strategy, trade management, or a similar role within the container shipping industry.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct in-depth feasibility studies and profitability analyses.
- Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, adept at building and maintaining strategic partnerships.
- Understanding of vessel deployment strategies, chartering principles, and operational intricacies of container shipping.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, experience with Microsoft Power BI is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, global environment and manage multiple priorities.
- A strong understanding of market dynamics and a proactive approach to identifying new opportunities.
