Job Description

The Assistant Manager / Manager (Public Relations & Communications) plays a central role in shaping how the Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM) is positioned in the national conversation. The role combines operational craft, drafting press releases, speeches, and media responses with strategic input into how SKM's messages land with the media, with partners, and with the wider public.

The role reports to the Deputy Director (Strategic Marketing & Communications) and works closely with SKM's Executive Director, with regular exposure to senior stakeholders across Government, the media, and SKM's network of partners.

What You'll Do

  • Support the Executive Director and SKM spokespersons with media interview preparation, including detailed briefings, speech drafting, and the crafting of quotes and soundbites.
  • Develop and execute PR and communications strategies that strengthen SKM's positioning and shape how kindness and graciousness are discussed in the public domain.
  • Build and manage relationships with media partners, journalists, and editorial stakeholders across print, broadcast, and digital platforms.
  • Monitor media coverage and public sentiment to assess the impact of PR strategies, using analytics tools to inform data-driven adjustments.
  • Work with the Deputy Director to develop communications that raise public awareness of acts of kindness, with the wider aim of influencing standards of everyday behaviour and civic responsibility.
  • Support the Deputy Director on multi-disciplinary research and strategy projects across the SMC team's workstreams.
  • Oversee the selection and appointment of vendors and agencies supporting the SMC team's activities across the financial year.
  • Manage the allocated media budget with prudence, ensuring strong return on investment across PR activities.

Requirements

  • Degree in Public Relations, Media, Journalism, Mass Communications, or other relevant fields. Fresh graduates with relevant internship or project experience are welcome to apply, and will be considered alongside candidates with up 1-2 years of relevant working experience.
  • Good understanding of Singapore's media landscape, including print, broadcast, digital, and social platforms.
  • Good understanding of digital marketing and social media best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong project, campaign, event, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to pivot in an ambiguous, fast-moving work environment, and a positive, curious learning attitude.
  • A personal interest in and disposition towards kindness, civic life, and behavioural change.
