RESPONSIBILITIES

To strengthen NVPC's role as the national agency and knowledge centre on Singapore's giving landscape by leading and supporting rigorous, applied research that informs strategy, programmes, partnerships, sector engagement and policy conversations.

Anchored in the National Giving Study, the role will manage national-level and other strategic research projects end-to-end - from proposal development, study design, ethics clearance and fieldwork coordination, to data cleaning, analysis, interpretation, reporting and research translation. The jobholder will also support studies across areas such as corporate giving and purpose, nonprofit governance, volunteering, impact evaluation and behavioural insights, translating organisational needs into researchable questions and actionable insights.

Responsibilities

1. End-to-end research leadership and project management

  • Lead or support national-level and strategic studies, with the National Giving Study as the primary anchor.
  • Manage the full research cycle, including proposal development, study design, timeline planning, ethics clearance, procurement, vendor/fieldwork coordination, data management, analysis and reporting.

2. Research design, data quality and analytical rigour

  • Design and review research frameworks, survey instruments, sampling plans, fieldwork protocols, data cleaning processes and analytical plans.
  • Apply sound quantitative and/or qualitative methods, including descriptive analysis, cross-tabulation, hypothesis testing and regression analysis.
  • Familiarity with more advanced methods, such as factor analysis, clustering, segmentation, longitudinal analysis or causal inference approaches, would be an advantage

3. Insight generation and applied sense-making

  • Analyse and interpret research findings, identify meaningful patterns, and develop coherent evidence-based narratives.
  • Connect findings to practical questions across giving, volunteering, corporate purpose, nonprofit governance, impact evaluation and behavioural insights where relevant.

4. Research communication and knowledge translation

  • Develop research reports, management briefs, presentation decks, talking points and other knowledge products.
  • Tailor research messages for different audiences, including internal teams, senior management, partners, sector stakeholders and external audiences with varying levels of technical familiarity.

5. Internal consulting and research advisory support

  • Work with business teams to understand their questions, constraints and evidence needs.
  • Translate organisational or programme challenges into feasible research questions, study designs, evaluation plans or behavioural insight opportunities.
  • Provide practical research advice while taking into account operational realities and stakeholder needs.

6. Team and organisational contribution

  • Support cross-functional work, organisational events, administrative processes, procurement, vendor management, documentation and other non-research responsibilities as needed.
  • Contribute to team learning, collaboration and knowledge management.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Masters Degree in Social Sciences, Public Policy, Statistics, Data Analytics, Evaluation, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in applied social research, survey research, programme evaluation, policy research, or related fields. Experience managing large-scale household or population-level surveys would be an advantage.
  • Strong grounding in research design, survey methodology, quantitative analysis, and social science research methods.
  • Experience in questionnaire development, data cleaning, statistical analysis, report writing, and translating findings for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in quantitative analysis techniques such as descriptive statistics, cross-tabulation, hypothesis testing, and regression analysis. Familiarity with advanced methods (e.g. factor analysis, clustering, segmentation, longitudinal analysis, or causal inference) would be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS, Stata, R, or Python. Familiarity with Mplus or other latent variable modelling software would be an advantage.
  • Ability to manage research projects end-to-end, including proposal development, timeline planning, ethics/IRB clearance, vendor coordination, fieldwork management, analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex findings into practical insights and recommendations.
  • Adaptable, collaborative, and pragmatic, with the ability to balance research rigour with operational realities.
  • Interest in giving, volunteering, corporate purpose, nonprofit governance, social impact, behavioural insights, or Singapore's social sector would be an advantage.
