[Job Description]
Iwatani Group is a leading gas and energy company headquartered in Japan with energy businesses centered on industrial gas and machinery, materials, integrated energy, and natural industrial energy.
We are seeking an Assistant Manager to support the expansion of our materials and industrial gas businesses in Southeast Asia.
The role focuses on market research, technology scouting, and
cross-border business collaboration to strengthen our regional value chain.
1) Conduct market research and industry analysis on emerging companies and technologies in Southeast Asia, particularly in
advanced materials, industrial gases, machinery and related
sectors, including markets such as Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia,
Thailand, and the Philippines.
2) Identify potential business partners, suppliers, and customers
to expand trading and distribution channels for raw materials and
specialty products.
3) Support feasibility studies and preliminary assessments for
potential strategic collaborations, partnerships, or minority
investments aligned with the Group's business strategy.
4) Evaluate new technologies from startups, universities, and
research institutions for potential commercial application within
the Group's business domains.
5) Identify and develop potential business partners, suppliers, and
customers to expand trading and distribution channels for raw
materials and specialty products, including leading commercial
negotiations and concluding sales and purchase agreements.
6) Facilitate communication between Japanese
headquarters/customers and Singapore-based or ASEAN
companies to promote cross-border business collaboration.
7) Build relationships with financial institutions, corporate
finance advisors, and industry stakeholders to gather market
intelligence and partnership opportunities.
8) Travel to Japan and ASEAN countries (approximately 1-2 times per
month) for business meetings, site visits, and market research
activities.
[Job Requirements]
1) Bachelor's degree or above in Chemistry, Materials Science,
Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
2) At least 5 years of experience working for a listed global company in one of the following industries: Industrial gases,
Machinery, Materials. Successful candidate is expected to have the
industry experience within the last 5 years.
Successful candidates is expected to have experience in handling at least one of the following materials: rare-earth
metals, mineral sand, ceramic molded products, resin raw
materials, metals and chemicals.
3) At least 5 years of experience in procurement and logistics in
industrial gases, machinery or materials and it's related business.
Successful candidate must have a high level of negotiation
experience with suppliers in ASEAN and Japan.
4) At least 5 years of experience within the Industrial gases,
Machinery, or Materials industries, including client handling and
sales negotiations.
The candidate must possess strong coordination and negotiation
skills with multiple stakeholders such as suppliers, customers, and
research institutions, and have hands-on experience in high-level
negotiations, particularly with Japanese clients.
5) At least 5 years of experience in trading, business development,
technology commercialization, supply chain development, or
corporate planning within one of the following industries:
Industrial gases, Machinery, or Materials.
6) At least 5 years of experience within the Industrial gases,
Machinery, or Materials industries, with the ability to conduct
independent research and analyze market and technical
information.
7) Willingness to travel to Japan and ASEAN countries
(usually once or twice per month).
8) Self-motivated and able to work independently.
